Police source
Islamic terrorists July 15: Islamic terrorists and left-wing extremists have become more cautious in using mobile phones and the Internet, making things difficult for the intelligence agencies who are tracking their activities.
“The terrorists have gone into a self-preservation mode of late,” said a police source. “They are now increasingly depending on human couriers for communication when they realised the trap of modern communication equipment.” A document of the CPI (Maoist) accessed by this newspaper asks the leaders to use the mobile phones judiciously. The document lamented lack of vigil on the part of many leaders in using the computers and
mobile phones, which led to serious leadership loss to the party.
Maoist leaders such as Sende Rajamouli and Azad were picked up by the police by tracking their computers.
Likewise, the crackdown on the Kerala terror network happened after intercepting the calls made by one of the youth from Kashmir to Kannur. Call interception has helped intelligence agencies to net many leaders of the SIMI and Indian Mujahideen.
