The Centre ha July 18: The Centre has decided against handing over the Mumbai serial blasts case to the National Investigation Agency, which was set up in the aftermath of the 26/11 attack. Notably, the mandate of the NIA is to probe “terror” related cases.
Sources said the Maharashtra ATS will investigate the Mumbai blasts and the NIA will only assist in the investigations for now. “There is no thinking so far as handing over the case to the NIA,” the official said.
Since the inception of the NIA, blasts have taken place at Pune, Varanasi and the Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru.
