Phone call made from Belgaum jail

A team of the Mumbai police is likely to visit Belgaum shortly and interrogate the suspected terrorists jailed in Hindalga prison as part of its investigation into the recent Mumbai bomb blasts. It will also visit the Gulbarga jail which houses some notorious members of the underworld, according to sources.
The Mumbai police is eyeing Belgaum because one of the three phone-calls connected through a telephone tower near Opera House in Mumbai half-an-hour before the explosion went off, is said to have been made from the region where the Hindalga prison is located. The investigating officers plan to check whether
the phone-call was made from the prison or elsewhere.
In all, three phone-calls were made to the Opera House locality from Karnataka just before the bomb exploded.
The Hindalga prison is coming in for close scrutiny as some of the eight suspected terrorists jailed there have links with Simi and were allegedly involved in strengthening their terror network, before the police caught up with them.
The Mumbai police could use information from the prisoners to draw the sketches of the Mumbai blasts suspects.
When asked, the Belgaum police, however, claimed it was unaware of a possible visit by the Mumbai police to the city.
