5 killed, 10 injured in Manipur blast


Imphal, August 1
At least five persons, including a student, were killed and 10 others injured when suspected militants exploded a bomb at a shop in Imphal West district today, officials said.

The bomb was hurled in the Sangakpham area on the outskirts of Imphal around 2.30 pm. The explosion was so powerful that its impact smashed windowpanes of some nearby houses, the officials said, adding the condition of some of the injured was serious.
The injured were admitted to nearby hospitals.
Chief Minister Okram Ibobi Singh along with high civil and police officials visited the spot. No group has so far claimed responsibility of the blast. — PTI
